Teepa Snow
By Katherine Wells 03 Jun, 2021
Francis and Taylor talk with the extraordinary Teepa Snow about her virtual Keynote at our upcoming in-person event. You won't want to miss this quick "Teepa's take" on Humor In Caregiving. " Dementia keeps you on your toes! You have to learn to live with it, work with it, and find joy in it or it will wear you out. " ~ Teepa Snow When we selected Teepa to share her infectious energy and education with our audience, we knew she would bring no less than 110% of herself. There is no one else like Teepa, and we are thrilled to share this short sneak peek of what you will see in September. Here's what you'll get from Teepa's session, Humor and Caregiving, when you join us in September -- Teepa will help everyone involved in the caregiving situation recognize and use humor to create a more positive and effective partnership and connection. The session will distinguish between humor that is negative or destructive to a relationship or individual, and humor that is healthy and energizing. Evidence about the value of humor in staying or getting healthy will be shared. Additional evidence will be discussed related to the value of humor in developing and maintaining healthy attitudes and behaviors in caregiving relationships. Finally, specific examples and strategies for introducing humor into caregiving situations and relationships will be provided and demonstrated.

Katherine recently interviewed our keynote speaker, Mr. Louie Gravance, is the author of Service Is A Superpower and “the guy that can make the Disney service concepts actually work outside of Disney.” When we selected our keynote speaker, we wanted someone who had directly experienced the senior care journey, as well as bring in outside thinking to an industry that has experienced devastating loss, extreme negative news, and yet is filled with extraordinary people who see an opportunity to create a new future for the way we age. In this short video, I asked Louie How do you fit into that? What would you say to people who are already overworked, don’t have enough time in their day, and are on “people time” rather than “clock time”? What do you want to leave our audience with after your presentation at Collaboration In Aging?
